Barn Cats

Barn Cats Provide Free Pest Control Services

Help Save Feline Lives

We routinely have unsocialized, community cats come into our care. These are feral cats that have lived their lives outdoors with little or no human interaction. As such, they are not good candidates for our regular adoption program. Our Barn Cat Program gives these cats a second chance at life. Please note that we do not adopt house cats through the Barn Cat Program.

Pest Control

Are you in need of pest control? Barn Cats are felines who are used to living outdoors, and prefer the company of other animals. Please note that we do not adopt house cats through the Barn Cat Program. This program is designed for cats without other options for adoption. Barn Cats have maintained their hunting instincts and are more than happy to provide pest control services in exchange for:

  • Warm shelter
  • Long-term veterinary care
  • Daily food and water (the cats cannot live on rodents alone)

But I’m Not a Farmer

That’s ok! Do you have a barn, shed, or other outdoor structure away from busy roads and traffic where these cats can live? If you have such a place to offer, please consider adopting one (or more) of our barn cats. Places where a barn cat could work are:

  • Barns
  • Stables
  • Garages
  • Large Sheds
  • Warehouses
  • Wineries
  • Breweries

All-Inclusive

All of our barn cats are 16-weeks-of-age or older, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. We will counsel you on our 4-week-long acclimation program that has been proven to help the cats stay on your property. We also provide a carrier for them to hide in, a litter box and litter, and some food to get you started.

How To Adopt

  • Discuss Your Options

Our placement coordinator will follow up with you to learn about your preferences on the gender, color, and friendliness of your barn cat(s). They can also answer any questions you have about the process.

  • Pay Online

Once a drop-off date is confirmed, we’ll send you a link to pay the adoption fee of $25. Adoption fee on second cat is waived if you choose to adopt two.

  • At Home Delivery

If you live within an hour’s drive from the shelter, we’ll bring the cat(s), relocation crate, and supplies right to you and help you get set up. If you live farther away, you can still adopt! We ask that you transport the cats and supplies yourself. We will provide advice on setting up the cats and follow-up support should questions arise.
